Rooney's wife number one fashion role model

Coleen McLoughlin, the wife of England and Manchester United footballer Wayne Rooney, has been named as Britain's number one fashion role model.

While Carla Bruni-Sarkozy may be wowing the country during her husband's state visit here as French president, 21-year-old McLoughlin was preferred by readers of weekly style magazine Look.

McLoughlin beat supermodel Kate Moss, actress Sienna Miller and David Beckham's wife Victoria to the top spot, while Australian singer Kylie Minogue only made it into sixth place.

"Coleen has transformed herself from puffa jacket schoolgirl to style icon in just a few years," said Look editor Ali Hall.

"Women relate to her as she's more shapely than your average Wag," or footballer's wife and girlfriend.

The British press splashed pictures of 40-year-old Carla Bruni-Sarkozy over its front pages on Thursday, after she arrived Wednesday for a two-day state visit with her husband Nicolas Sarkozy.

Here are the top 10 style role models, as chosen in a poll of 1 200 women aged 15-45.
