Downing leave Boro
Middlesbrough winger Stewart Downing has signalled his intent to leave the Riverside Stadium after handing in a written transfer request.
The 24-year-old wideman, who only signed a new five-year contract in February 2008, is believed to have become unsettled following Boro's slide towards the foot of the Premier League table this season.
According to the News of the World, Spurs are understood to have put in a £6 million offer for the 24-year-old, less than half the value Boro believe he is worth.
Boro are resolved not to sell for anything less than £15m, despite manager Gareth Southgate being told he must sell before he can buy.
